Pournelle is actually recovering from a serious illness, I enjoyed his tuff in the past and like his writing style although I don't identify with his politics at all.
Niven much the same like his style and settings and reflect that he seems to do better in collaborations these days.
Bova I should admit I have not read much since the 1980's.
