"It may be typical of the pro-Obama Dungeons & Dragons crowd to disparage a fellow countryman's memory of war from the comfort of mom's basement, but most Americans have the humility and gratitude to respect and learn from the memories of men who suffered on behalf of others."

I guess he never met any of my Army Reserve friends who played D&D and got me into it.

...Or my soldier-husband, who bases computer-purchasing decisions on how well it will support World of Warcraft so he can play with all his Army buddies.

Interesting, particularly since I spent Thursday night sitting at GenCon, listening to a veteran going on about just how many of his friends in the military were hardcore gamers.

...or the guys I knew who were in the US Navy, who played D&D constantly whenever they weren't on duty.

I guess this guy hasn't been on any military base in the past 25 years! Sheesh. Gaming relieves stress, sharpens skills, and improves morale; it's a safe and portable pastime. Soldiers know this, which is why a lot of guys in the field, even in forward positions, play games. West Point has an annual gaming convention, last I heard, and I wouldn't be surprised if the other military academies did too.
