RIP Ruth Warrick 1915-2005

Ruth was on the soap All My Children where she played Pine Valley matriarch Phoebe Tyler for 35 years.

More noteably she had been the last living member of the cast of "Citizen Kane" which was her first movie.

I started watching her at age 14 while sick with the red measles.

i borrowed it from the library a few times - then when i got some dough, i bought my very own copy. i never get tired of that movie - though i implore anyone who watches it to forget the hype, and give it a few viewings before concluding. the "best movie of all time" title is just asking for it, y'know.

Wow. When I was growing up my mother used to watch AMC religiously, so I remember Ms. Warrick. She was a fine actress in the soap opera genre. (Not having ever seen anything else she did, I can't judge her against non-soap actors.)

RIP.

Sounds like its time to rent Citizen Kane.

I used to watch All My Children in the late '70s and early '80s. Took a while to get off that habit. In fact I picked it up again in the mid-90s; that's where I discovered Sarah Michelle Gellar.

Ruth Warrick was a great actress; she made the strange plot twists credible, held her dignity, and drove a lot of the action by force of personality. She had a great run, but it's still sad she's gone.
