From the articles I've read, there are a number of bits of conflicting information about how Homo Sapiens spread accross the world, based upon what markers you track, and stuff.

They tie in a lot of geological and cultural evidence as well.

This answers a question that has been bugging me for years: How did humans survive the ice ages? Answer: For the most part, they didn't. That site estimates that there were as few as 10,000 humans only 60,000 years ago. Yikes!
