Those of the top 100 Wargames I have played and owned:

Owned and played:
Britannia - replay of early British history fun but not historical
Call of Cthulhu - roleplaying where its quite easy to make up characters, mainly because its easy to die or go insane.
Carcassonne - simple but complex strategy game
Car Wars (old an new) - I think I own a copy but have not played since university.
Civilization - strategy game where I usually end losing and having a migraine.
Dungeons & Dragons - roleplaying I own and played the advanced version mostly in university
Empires of the Middle Ages - only played solitaire and I found it very hard to get historical results, you mostly put down rebellions, which is realistic I guess.
Fluxx - great card game where the rules change as you play cards.
A House Divided - strategic American Civil War fun against a balanced opponent
Illuminati - several versions I have the trading card version be the secret power controlling the world!
Kingmaker - the English War of the Roses, not a roleplaying game but we played it like one at university.
Magic: The Gathering - own a very few cards and have actually played a very few games but not with my own cards.
Ogre - the original micro game featured a giant robot tank versus the hordes of the conventional army.
Pendragon - roleplaying in King Arthur's time, my first character was a Jew from York
RuneQuest - one of the best roleplaying games ever, had a Bronze Age background but as if the mythology was real. Used percentiles for skills allowing skills at anything and easy to show experience.
The Settlers of Catan (and more expansions than you can shake a stick at)
Squad Leader - used play now play the computer version Steel Panthers.
Talisman - lots of fun board game fantasy roleplaying
Traveller - the orginal science fiction roleplaying game, it got swallowed by its major setting and is going on its fifth or sixth version.

Played:
Champions (old) - roleplaying superheroes making up heroes takes forever and fascinates math majors, only played at university.
Diplomacy - actual cut throat diplomacy with very simple rules only played at university.
Naval War - the original card war game long before Magic, WWII naval units.
PanzerBlitz - more a Panzer Leader player
Puerto Rico - Oh Boy lets pretend we are colonial administrators!
Star Fleet Battles - modern naval warfare badly disguised as a space tactical game
Tikal - a game not a simuation

Owned but not played:

Empires in Arms - strategic Napoleonic Wars

Where did you get this list? Many of these titles are not wargames, IMO.

I called it Wargames because most of what I had played were wargames.

Its from a forthcoming book:
