Running a Convention
Running a convention is like a controlled crash, you have alot of chaotic events you know which way you want it to go and you have to try and steer it that way.
This year we did a very good job of steering.
You also have to hang loose and be ready to change direction quickly.
We were helped by all the people who showed up and threw parties, like the Red Dwarf, Farscape and Buffy parties, the LA 06 and Seattle 05 bids and the always realiable Gaylaxians, CFG and GT/Dorsai.
I also tryed to bring more new faces for panels from out of town and we got Jacqueline Carey, Rob Sawyer and Karl Shroeder. At least I think it was me it might have been them.
The late checkout and the allnight pool helped too.
Finally we had three kick ass guests of honour in
Artist Alan "Southern Gentleman" Clark
Author Melissa "Iron Driver" Scott
Scientist Jack "Consumate Professional" Cohen
Finally you have to schedule yourself a two to three hour gap for dinner on Saturday so you can go out for Thai.
