Gallery - Where will NASA send its astronauts next?

New Scientist has done a summary with images of future paths for NASA manned space flight with the upside and downside of each option. The pie in the sky option includes a manned mission to orbit Mars, much like the Apollo 8 and 10 missions to the moon and could be done for the same reasons. Its also the most dangerous option for the astronauts. No mention of alternate launching systems like those mentioned by Karl Schroeder http://www.kschroeder.com/weblog/archive/2009/09/21/6-kg-to-orbit#comments
