I myself am glad she was able to find her daughter and make contact and that the daughter wanted to go home.

No but it is sister city to the following:

* Japan Tainai, Niigata, Japan (former town of Nakajo and the city of Carbondale became sister cities in the past)
* Republic of China Tainan City, Taiwan
* India Shimla, India
* Pakistan Karachi, Pakistan

Founder Daniel Harmon Brush named Carbondale for the large deposit of coal in the area.
