Penguincon in Brief
Have to agree it was a wierd convention I manged to go out for exactly one meal and that was Sunday Brunch with Marcel and Sally who had a good time at their first MI SF con.
I otherwise had fun except for getting chlorine up my nose tying Rennie for most spins under water while not holding your nose in the pool at 2AM while drunk.
This resulted in needing a power nap just after midnight on Sat which did carry me to about 4:30AM by which almost all the parties were dead, Farscape might have been still going at they had a huge stack of DVD's to get through. I won a book reviewing season three which for me was the best prize to win as I own the major prize which was the best of DVD for season one.
Other great moments were the Terry Prachett Q and A session, my panel on Geeks and Guns, meeting Eric Flint an SF author engaged in getting authors like Keith Laumer (Retief)and James Schmitz (Telzey and Witches of Karres) back in print. Eric is a retired union organizer with libertarian tendencies.
Spent alot of time with Rennie and C and A and R who is living with A for two weeks.
Saw a few people I only see at cons which was good.
I think the con broke about even which is good for a first time it might happen next year but needs a new conchair. The hotel is not getting any better no maid came by our room on Saturday.
COn scheduling was interesting I had over 15 for my 5PM panel but many of them were unemployed and had nothing better to do.

Re:
I think from what I read someone(s) was working the con looking for stuff to steal.
Drawn by the Linux aspect perhaps?
I have not heard of this sort of pilfering in the past but I would have to check the previous logs.
