I work in a library and I like to recommend science fiction books to young adults.
However many of the authors I enjoyed, like Robert Heinlein and Andre Norton, are no longer publishing.
Who are the modern authors of note in young adult science fiction?

I'm amused that the first hit on Google for "young adult science fiction" is my web site.

Do you want science fiction specifically, or spec fic (fantasy also permissible)?

Science Fiction, its harder to define what is good.

Well I really like Bruce Coville and his "Full Cast Audio" are great unabridged books on tape. I think he writes both SF and F??

I'm woefully out of date on YA and Children's Lit though since my kidlit major days as an undergrad. alas! I still enjoy it but have been reading mostly children's stuff for little kids since mine are 4 and 6.

Some info from your kidlit days would be good to show the evolution of YA SF.

According to Wikipedia, Heinlein has had some things published after his death, and even has something coming out later this year.

You can't keep a good writer down.

The latest would have been better left buried I think.

Perhaps. Really it is people like us, who think of him as The Man, who keep it from being so. Still, when it comes out, I am buying it.

It will probably be his last.
