RIP, Dave Cockrum, 1943-2006
Dave was a comic book artist who revamped the Legion of Super Heroes in the early seventies evolving them from a bunch of teens meeting in an upside down rocketship to a mature interstellar organization of super heroes. They stopped acting like kids and got new uniforms as well.
After that he left DC and went to Marvel where he helped Chris Claremont reinvent the X-Men in Giant size X-Men Number 1. He co-created such characters as Storm, Nightcrawler and Colossus.
These were two of my favourite Comics, the Legion had a very science fiction feel back then.

I never got into Marvel comics when I was a kid, but I waited eagerly for the Legion of Super Heroes each week. I used to spend all my pocket money on that and a Superman comic. I was such a nerdy girl.
