That's a little obstacle. Buy a cheap helmet (e.g, a $35(US) Vega) and take the course--they provide motorcycles. While you're riding in the course, you'll figure out if it's for you. Then buy a nicer helmet.
(In the U.S., most places will provide helmets, too. Contact whoever is offering the course and see what you need to take the class.)
