jeffreyabThis past weekend I was at my favourite science fiction convention ConFusion.
Highlights of the weekend were:
Dinner with Howard Waldrop, one of my favourite authors.
Getting out 3 issues of the at con newsletter, MoonBase ConFusion Chronicle.
Programming going well even though I had little to do with it, its nice to take a year off, mostly off anyway.
Seeing many new faces at the con, hopefully they will come back.
Seeming many familiar faces too, including some I had not seen there in awhile.
Favourite quote by an unnamed Stilyagi from the 1970's "What's with these kids? No alcohol in the consuite before 7 PM?"
Favourite moment: the Roast of Mike Glicksohn and his receiving an award for perfect attendance.
Second favourite moment: Rick Lieder and Larry Tucker getting awards for almost perfect attendance. Rick and Larry have added alot to the flavour and atmosphere of the convention over the years.
Third favourite moment: watching people reciting show tunes and dancing in the hall way at 4 AM Sunday morning.
Fourth favourite moment(s): all the great discussions with Joel, Karl and his family, John, Toby, Howard, Larry, Rick, Joe, Alex, Marah, Steve, and others too numerous to name, thank you all.
The consuite was excellent even if I did get a face full of porter helping to set it up.
I managed to get out for Thai food TWICE!
Getting seasons V and VI of "Red Dwarf" on DVD at a very good price.
Getting "Inzero" the Detroit based underground SF show on DVD so I can find out what the fuss is about.
