Penguicon 2.0 Gaiman Style
Apparently Neil like to time things to the minute arriving at the for his 7PM panel at 6:58PM.
How did this affect me? Not much because I was upstairs helping to set up the ClubFusion Suite, which was my home away from home most of the weekend.
I also became a Sluggite this year or at least an acolyte of Trillian. Evidence helped her fetch Pete's dinner Friday night, bought my first Sluggy book and Kiki shot glass off of her Saturday and spent late Saturday evening at her pool party and on Sunday fetched her water and retrieved her beloved neck pillow from convention lost and found just minutes before she departed to the airport.
I also was on five panels two of which I ran by myself. We examined the genres of fiction, the series, the Detroit Science Fiction Hall of Fame, fannish activities to do after the con is over, and how to get further involved in conrunning. All the panels went well and the activity panel ended up at the flyer table where I pointed out the various activities.
My spare time on Saturday afternoon was spent publicizing Intersection the Glasgow worldcon and my own little Genrecon the oneday free convention, talk about a contrast!
The con was fun I got to eat both the Red and the White Pizza and it turns out the restaurant is across the street from the apartment where my only serious girlfriend lived if you get my drift so it was a poignant moment as we arrived there.
Got to see alot of people I had not seen in a while and met some new ones like Mike Gaiman and John Ringo who is a relative of Tombstone gunslinger Johnny Ringo.
I even got some stuff signed by Neal and managed to give him some money for the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund.
What Penguicon really needs is a 36 hour day so you have enough time to do everything, next year a 24 hour pool would help!
I looking forward to see what they come up with for next year!
Last year was Pratchett style by the way.
