Its fun and there are prizes to win!

Also at 9:15 I start the weekly meeting of the Sarnia Science Fiction Society.
We talk about science fiction and I give away free books!

Revisting the Past and Inspiration

I spent Saturday Night watching first Pleasentville and then the Commitments.

It was an interesting pairing, both are about youth and music and trying to better yourself.

I especially like the conversation between Jimmy the band manager and organizer and Joey the veteran trumpet player.

Jimmy is upset the band collapsed while Joey points that neverless he showed them their potential beyond the mundane and this is reinforced in the where are they now part at the end of the movie.

So I guess my question is what events in your life have most inspired you?

Mine has been driven by the book "Have spacesuit will travel" by Robert Heinlein, the Scouts, the tv shows "Doctor in the House" and "The Paperchase." They all emphasized that learning was worthwhile and could be fun and unconventional.
