This journal has become the Survival of New Orleans blog. In less perilous times it was simply a blog for me to talk smack and chat with friends. Now this journal exists to share firsthand experience of the disaster and its aftermath with anyone interested.

You can reach me on ICQ at 21710340 if you're so inclined.

I run a live feed at mms://204.251.3.10:2864 (port is subject to change every time I restart the cam.)

The live feed is being rebroadcast by the heroic freedom fighters at mises.org, so if you can't access it above, try this one: http://old.mises.org:88/NO2

If you want to link to my blog, please use this URL: http://mgno.com/

IRC channel has been opened: irc.deadjournal.com the channel is: #interdictor. ! The channel is moderated!

Come to think of it right now New Orleans is like a J.G. Ballard story either Drowning World or High Rise.

To Ballard's Drowned World and High Rise I will add Golding's Lord of the Flies.

God I hope its true the Regulars have arrived that area needs a central command structure and communication back bone badly.

The only thing worse than this for New Orleans would have been for the river to diverge, for the city this is the BIG ONE.

I am trying to not worry too much about Marcy and G at the Frenchman Hotel but its hard.

Marcy & G: Found!
According to [info]sewedel and Erik Alkenberg, both of whom were tireless in their efforts, Marcy & G are alive and on a bus headed for Houston tonight, where relatives are waiting for them. I cried when I read their emails just now, I was so relieved and grateful.

Thank you, Steve. Thank you, Erik. Thank you, everyone who helped or offered to help or prayed or just kept good thoughts.

Thank you.
