The Conservatives have effectively ended the Canadian long gun registry.

"Twenty years ago, the aftermath of the Montreal Massacre reshaped public opinion on gun control. Now, the House vote that ended the long-gun registry reopens old wounds - and has survivors fighting mad"

"Federal figures show most domestic murders involve long guns - 62 per
cent of the total, according to the most recent numbers available - and
most victims are women. In the past decade, the rate of spousal
homicides involving firearms has plummeted threefold. To advocates,
these are compelling arguments that... the licensing and registry of long
guns have saved lives."

On December 8, 1941 two battalions of Canadians fought along with British, Scottish, Indian and local Hong Kong forces to defend the city. The fight would last to Christmas Day 1941 and would cost the lives of 290 Canadians and many of the survivors would die or lose their health in Japanese prison camps.

To me one of the best parts of this video is the setting of Jodrell Bank specifically the Lovell Telescope, which is the third largest steerable radio telescope in the world.
