The good: great storyline that does not rely on cliches– and even has some originality. The bad: the animation is kinda… Creepy. Swedish animated talking bobblehead dolls. More importantly the animation is unnecessary. The plot stands on its own without cheap gimmicks. The good outweighs the bad.
The film is set in a future where corporate oligarchies have even more control than they do today. All of Europe is linked by an underground subway system. The protagonist, Roger, works at a callbank answering calls and lives a small dreary apartment. Then one day Roger starts hear a voice in his head, telling him what to do. Though an original screenplay, I would not have been surprised if the credits said “Based on the novel by Philip K Dick” as it has that Dickian quality of paranoia and self-doubt. If you can handle the uncanny valley of the animation, definitely worth checking out."
