I played computer wargames and listened to TV news.

What did you do? (Post this in your journal, and maybe it'll become a meme...)

If you have no idea what this vacation we're talking about is, then you're insufficiently addicted to LJ.

I picked up a copy of Secrets and Lies: Digital Security in a Networked World by Bruce Schneier (the science guest at the last ConFusion I attended), then I had dinner at the Elks Club (it was beef enchiladas or steaks night). On Saturday, I got a haircut and installed the Personal Oracle database and tools on one of my home boxes, and emailed one of my vegetarian co-workers that she can get the Build Your Own Big Mouth Burger at Chili's (black bean or portobello mushroom options are available).

Live Journal Vacation

From: [identity profile] elmwood.livejournal.com
I read. I had two fantasy collections by Ellen Datlow and Teri Windling - The Fairy Reel and Green Man - which I've been meaning to read for ages, so yesterday was the day. They were OK, a little patchy in quality. I preferred The Fairy Reel. Now, I'm about to start Neil Gaiman's American Gods.

What is ConFusion?

I sat around all day clicking refresh so I could post
:P

No no...I lie! I lie!

I was hopelessly re-introduced and became re-addicted to Neopets ( and yes, I am ashamed of that. LOL)

Wow,
What a line up! I've just belatedly got to Emma Bull's The War of the Oaks, and loved it. Also Will Shetterley's Dogland is one of my all time favourites. I am big time envious. Somehow though, I don't my two guys would be happy if I announced I wanted to go! We have a long planned skiing trip that weekend, plus family coming to join us. Ah well. One day, I will make it to a convention.

Neopets isn't that for little kids?

At the library I work at they were its main users before they shifted to MSM.

Cursed FiletMignon, my cluster which was down longer than most (is it geographically assigned?)

Rented a movie. "The Stepford Wives." Very disappointed. I hear the older one is better.

I actually didn't care that much that it was down. While I had my week of technological deprivation, I didn't even think about Livejournal. And that was a whole week!

I constantly clicked Refresh and kept checking my email... Ah, the days when I had a real instead of virtual life...
