“The Sarnia Library Presents: A Day With Authors GenreCon 2005”

Sarnia, ON – GenreCon, a free literary convention featuring a several notable editors and authors, returns to Sarnia Library on April 30th.

Providing fans and local writers with the opportunity to talk with other genre fans and writers GenreCon presents a wide range of panels on publishing, genre fiction, including mystery, romance, horror and science fiction. Book signings and sales are also available.

“GenreCon provides a unique opportunity to talk with and learn from experienced writers and editors of genre fiction,” said Jeffrey Beeler, Reference Librarian, “Our past participants speak highly of their experiences.”

A book signing by award winning science fiction authors Robert J. Sawyer and Robert Charles Wilson will take place between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. At the same time there will be a meet and greet reception and GenreCon will continue until library closing at 5:30 p.m. Discussion panels take place from 12 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. with the following: mystery authors Rick Blechta, Dennis Collins, Vicki Delany, and Julia Vryheid; romance author Carrie Chesney, horror author Marcy Italiano, science fiction authors Douglas Smith and Julie Johnston, mystery critic P.J. Coldren, and author and critic Jeff DeLuzio. Seating is limited; please contact the Reference Department at (519) 337-3291 to reserve your seat.

The Sarnia Branch of the Lambton County Library is located at 124 Christina Street South, Sarnia, Ontario, one hour northeast of Detroit, Michigan on I-94 and one hour west of London, Ontario on Highway 402. GenreCon is part of Need to Read week.

Oh yeah. Duh. Just looked up April 30th and, of course, it's a Saturday. I still work Saturdays so can't justify taking it off (to my husband) for writerly things unless they're paid venues (which I don't think yours is). Anyway, hope it's a huge success!
