My new(ish) laptop is a Dell and I'm very pleased with it.

Just to offer some encouragement, since I know how doubts can creep in with a new computer purchase -- what with every model going obsolete overnight (if not sooner)!

I wish you much enjoyment and may the good Dell support remain an unused safety net.

Dude, you've got a Dell! Couldn't resist that, main manufacturing plant is about 20 miles north from me, up the road in Round Rock, Texas. Most of the boxes at the City of Austin are leased Dells, was the same when I left Ford almost 5 years ago, my old box is Dell, about 6 years old so it's now ancient, my latest is a house brand from Fry's Electronics, I am thinking the next will be the Apple laptop but it's US $2999. Dells are fairly reliable, they've got good customer telephone support.
