I know I'm going to go to hell for this, but it's amazing how crass the mind can be, because the first thing I thought was, "I'll take women who don't know how to duck for 500, Alex."

I consider myself a kind, caring, compasionate man, so why would by brain spit that out?

In this case I don't believe ducking was an option.

Its hard to duck a 5.56 mm slug coming from a Mini 14 as fast as the shooter can pull the trigger from a 30 round clip. :[

Yeah. Amazingly the Mini 14 wasn't on the list of banned semi-automatic assault weapons because it didn't look "military" enough. (No pistol grip, flash suppressor, etc.) Not that even that would have probably done much good. Lapine used a 30 round mag, even though Luger refused to sell anything over a 5 round mag to anyone other than law enforcement or military

Forgive my ignorance but I have no idea what this is about. Am I right in guessing all of the above named were victims of some crazed killing spree?

The Montreal Massacre

From: [identity profile] jeffreyab.livejournal.com
A mentally ill man walked into a classroom at the University of Montreal ordered all the men out at gun point and then proceeded to execute all of the above women merely because they were women taking an engineering course.

He was facilitated in this by having a semiautomatic carbine with a 30 round magazine that allowed to shoot continuosly without thinking. This case is the biggest Canadian argument for gun control.

It also changed the way Montreal police react to gunmen situations. Instead of securing the perimeter and then trying to locate the shooter they now charge in and make contact with the shooter. In a recent situation at Dawson College also in Montreal only one person died not 14 due to this policy.
