1. Why did you decide to become a librarian?
I have always liked reading and books, After I graduated with a degree in history becoming a librarian was one of my few options, finally I have always wanted a Master's Degree in something.
2. Thai food or Vietnamese?
Thai food because in my experience it offers more variety than Vietnamese. I also like its palate of tastes better, Viet tends to emphasize soup more than I like.
3. If you could guarantee that ConFusion would be a great success for the rest of your life, BUT you would have to work the convention every year for the rest of your life and always in the same department, would you do it? In what department?
Yes and the department would be Conchair, if I have to do it for the rest of my life but it will be successful due to me I want to get the credit for it. Conchair has the most influence on the culture of the convention.
4. Space aliens seize you from your day-to-day life, quiz you for hours about the earth and human politics, tell you that you've been very helpful and they really like you but they can't take indigenous peoples away from developing worlds. When they prepare to return you to your home you:
a)Throw dignity to the wind and beg to go with them.
b)Feign dignified acceptance and attempt to stow away.
c)Decline their offer to affect your memory, knowing that no-one will believe you but unwilling not to remember that it happened
d)Accept their offer to affect your memory so that you will either forget the incident ever happened or remember it only as a dream.
Why?
C) I want to remember the experience. I would start to support the space program BIG TIME because I would know something was out there. Although I would worry that alien space babies would emerge from my navel like they did from someone I know's ;).
5. Did you ever consider getting a library job in Michigan? Why or why not?
I considered it and even applied for one right out of library school which I did not get. Now I have too much invested in Canada to give it up for the instability in the United States. I would be giving up over 17 years of seniority and pension contributions not to mention banked sick time. Now I would only move for love. If I did meet the right person I would have to decide in which country to continue my life. It would depend upon our mutual circumstances.
