An example of how my favourite roleplaying game and mega novel Traveller is played. This is an example of a mercenary attack on a defended planet. For other players note that Happy Fun Ball makes a planetside landing at the end which is against High Guard rules. Ahh the fun of Traveller!

I used to play Traveller. I had to write a couple of auto-evolutionary character generators in the early 80s, though. Because spending hours creating a character and then discovering that he was crap more or less sucked.

I mostly rolled up characters and my last roleplaying was using the Fifth Frontier War rules.

It goes back to the little book days but in generating you have more choices and have the option to pick skills packages.

Wow, there's been a lot of updates to Traveller since I played. I was playing in the 1985-1988 era. Which, of course, meant mostly Little Black Books. I don't think I ever played MegaTraveller, but I think we used the Mercenary rulebook towards the end.
The early character generation would result in character death too easily, after hours of creating a character, and before starting an adventure. So, since I was a hobby programmer, and so were my gaming friends to some extent, I wrote software to their (ever-changing) spec instead of generating characters one day. I wonder if I still have that. It was in Kaypro BASIC, IIRC.

Ijust traded for the Striker miniatures rules (included in the Traveller Classic Games book) and the Striker II rules as well. Now if only I had the time, space models and opponents to play...
