Which means only two or three more snowfalls at the most!

Back still hurts. Watched We Were Soldiers and Wonderfalls. I enjoyed the former more than the latter really enjoyed Sam Elliott's performance

Still thinking about the art of relationships.

Are you in love if you get an endorphin rush from seeing a picture of someone?

love makes you high, so probably :)

No, that's lust.

Seeing a picture of someone you love gives a warm, contented feeling. Nothing like the endorphin rush that might come from a picture of, say, Orlando Bloom, Johnny Depp or Kiera Knightley. (Yeah, I liked Pirates of the Caribbean.)

If you don't know the difference, that explains a lot. ;-)

When I said endorphin I meant that warm contented feeling.

What does endorphin rush mean to you?

Endorphin rush is what you feel when the starting gun goes off, or your window opens suddenly in the middle of the night, or you've been running for a day or so. Endorphins are what allow marathon runners to keep going, and what your body floods itself with when you're about to die. It's sort of akin to adrenaline, but not quite the same. Endorphins kill pain, sort of like an opiate, but stimulate as well.

That's why there is a brand of hot sauce called "Endorphin Rush."

I think being in love requires a lot more than that.

From the movie "Meet Joe Black" (I just used this in my journal):

William Parrish: Love is passion, obsession, someone you can't live without. If you don't start with that, what are you going to end up with? Fall head over heels. I say find someone you can love like crazy and who'll love you the same way back. And how do you find him? Forget your head and listen to your heart. I'm not hearing any heart. Run the risk, if you get hurt, you'll come back. Because, the truth is there is no sense living your life without this. To make the journey and not fall deeply in love - well, you haven't lived a life at all. You have to try. Because if you haven't tried, you haven't lived.

William Parrish: How perfect for you -- to take whatever you want because it pleases you. That's not love.
Joe Black: Then what is it?
William Parrish: Some aimless infatuation which, for the moment, you feel like indulging -- it's missing everything that matters.
Joe Black: Which is what?
William Parrish: Trust, responsibility, taking the weight for your choices and feelings, and spending the rest of your life living up to them. And above all, not hurting the object of your love.
Joe Black: So that's what love is according to William Parrish?
William Parrish: Multiply it by infinity, and take it to the depth of forever, and you will still have barely a glimpse of what I'm talking about.

No, the endorphin rush is more likely caused by infatuation, and that is more about curiosity than commitment.

So like, it's a reason to pick up the phone and call the person.

Are you in love if you get an endorphin rush from seeing a picture of someone?

You've got the potential.

Now, either do something about it, or get over it.

On another note--I made it to the Stilyagi meeting, where were you?

I am trying to get over it actually.

I had work on Saturday to 5:30 and then back pain that continues to today.

Amazingly enough my back doesn't hurt today. You'd think installing an engine in a motorcycle would cause trouble, but "lifting with the knees" and the extensive use of a hydraulic jack seems to have avoided that problem.

On another note: "getting over it" is very different from repressing it. This is where I screwed up a lot in the past. You've got to ride the wave of your emotions, not fight them.

In my experience they are:
Desire
Longing
Melancholy
Anger
Bitterness
Wistfulness
Bemusement

Oh, and drinking alone never helps. However, drinking with a close friend and behaving badly sometimes works out--'cause the next morning you realize what a fool you've been.

Yes I have never seen the point of drinking alone.

I am into day two of total withdrawal so far, although I have a few loose ends to tie up.
