So what is everyone doing for Halloween?

Dressing up?

What as?

Giving out candy?

If not why not?

I'll be the Colonial Marine giving out candy.

Probably not dressing up, and either taking the kids out begging in the neighborhood, or giving out candy on my porch. Perhaps both if the wife ends up taking the kids down to see her folks later in the evening.

That reminds me of the year my mom took us out and my dad came home from work and then met us on the road and tried to scare us.

I'll be going to the Elks for a Steak then for the Scare for the Cure especially since we give them the space to do it. Don't bother giving out candy anymore, haven't had any kids come by for several years.

I'm dressing up as a Valkyrie and packing way too much into my weekend.

I'll be sleeping
No really, I will be..
I'm trying to convince someone to come sit and dish out candy at my house so no one will bother me with the knocking!

I am dressing up as grumpy middle aged female writer and handing out candy. The resident teen is going to trick or treat in another town with a friend, then partying at said friend's house. It's his last Hallowe'en going out - our rule is once you hit high school you take over handing out the candy.

Out here the houses are 100 yeards apart. We get very few kids, but I'm going to have candy for them. The first year we lived here I bought a bazillion glow-in-the-dark scull erasers and gave away only a few. I sent them to my nieces and nephews. I dress as myself. I figure I'm scary enough the way it is.

I am going as an enchanted tree from Narnia. My two littlest are Reepicheep (Seamus) and Queen Lucy (Isobeal) and Alex decided he wanted to be Captain Shakespeare from Stardust. Pictures below...

I am going to try to have him up at ConFusion again this year. If he is going to be able to go, I may try to convince him to enter the Masquerade. All we'd need for a prop is a floor length mirror.

It was all his idea. It works. He is such a ham too that it will be great on Friday!

We never (I mean NEVER) get trick-or-treaters at our place, so we'll probably find something to do elsewhere.

I am taking Matt and Nick trick or treating around my neighborhood, and later giving out candy :-)

I'll be dressing up as Pong and going to a friend's party. It should be an amusing costume (when it's done - I still need to finish it!)

I'll give out candy.

I won't dress up. My experience has been that handing out treats in any costume that involve masks or makeup, frightens the heck out of some smaller trick-or-treaters. It's only fun dressing up until the first time you open the door and someone two feet tall bursts into tears and falls down the steps in their haste to flee back to the parents on the sidewalk.

And I don't feel any inspiration for a meaningful yet non-terrifying costume this year.

Did the official Halloween parties already this year on the 15th (went as Wall Street Financial Analyst [basically a gypsy with crystal ball and dice]) and the 25th (generic steam-punk-esque). Mark went as the Dow Jones Industrial average (in a ragged blood spattered shirt with a cardbpard begging sign) both times, and won "Scariest Costume" at one party.

Tomorrow we are going to taste wines and help friends shell-out to the hordes of kids who come by their house. Hordes and hordes, apparently. Don't know if we'll dress up. I'll probably do the steampunk thing again if we do.

Saturday I am going to a Dia de los Muertos party, for which I am taking sugar skull decorations and a memorial shrine to my maternal grandmother.

I have jury duty for the first time ever. I'm not going in costume.

I'm then headed out for a short weekend with a sweetie. Trick or treaters don't come to my house (very rural area with a road that's not safe to walk on after dark), so no one will miss my being home to hand out candy.

Jury duty in costume? That's an option? :)

My boss, her sister and I are getting the lady I work for dressed up and we'll be handing out candy at her house. :)

Not dressing up (no inspiration, no time); giving out candy (hope we've got enough).

I'm hoping it's warm enough to sit out on the porch having a drink instead of cowering indoors. It's much more social; we can talk to the neighbours (their porch is < 1.5m away) and such parents as we recognise...

How would anyone know I was in costume?

It was a beautiful night; we sat on the porch and had a drink while handing out candy...
