Its more than just a song by the GO-GO'S.

I think most importantly its a state of mind obtained by changing one's routine to a more relaxed state of mind.

One of the things I did today was watch a movie called Laurel Canyon.

It really did put me in a relaxed state of mind. Except now I want to move there. I was watching it again with the director's commentary on when I stopped to catch Letterman. Big mistake it dragged me right out of my relaxed state of mind. I shan't make that mistake again.

So the question is "What sorts of things do you do to obtain a relaxed 'vacation' state of mind?"

Also what other movies should I try and watch while on vacation?

Any guesses as to one of my favourite pastimes?

Almost Famous. Like Laurel Canyon, it boasts Frances McDormand in its cast. And it's a great, fun kind-of-road-trip movie.

Hmm, I've been on Laurel Canyon, and it wasn't relaxing. (Steep slope, hairpin turns, several hundred foot drop beyond the guardrail, and LA traffic behind us honking because we're going too slow...) :)

Its living there that is restful.

Driving does seem to be a problem as two of the characters first meet through almost having a collison.
